Olestra (OLEAN)

This is a fat substitute intended to be a healthy alternative. Don’t be surprised if things get embarrassing after eating this because this chemical causes loose stool and a leaky bowel.

Olean: supposedly a “smart choice,” until you know the effects.

What’s more disconcerting than the effects on your gastrointestinal tract is that it significantly reduces serum levels of vitamin A,D,E and K, and well as vital nutrients. Children are often already vitamin deficient, so they should be getting more vitamins in their diet and not eating foods which reduce vitamin intake.  Once again, this product is banned in Europe, Canada, and many other countries–but most Americans don’t even know what it is, let alone its consequences.
